Backyard Landscape Beachside in Vero Beach

Tropical Appeal for a Vero Beach Backyard Landscape

In celebration of buying a new home, our clients felt that there was to be no time wasted when deciding to get a professional opinion and expertise in the landscaping industry to renew and refresh their backyard landscape. They were more than satisfied with the location and potential of the property, but they were also well aware that the aesthetics could definitely benefit from an upgrade! This was just as big a decision as buying the house its’ self, so they wanted to do their homework to make the best-informed decision on who to hire. After many interviews of ourselves and other landscaping companies, Construction Landscape was brought on to oversee the landscape design and project management from start to finish.

Our landscape designer met with our clients immediately following their initial phone call, due to the fact that they were under a sort of time constraint. They reside full-time in another state until completion of their property. The backyard landscape project seems to be the icing on the cake. The consultation and assessment for their landscape design presented a few issues and concerns, but nothing that Construction Landscape’s landscape designer, Jennifer Bevins, could not successfully take into account.

The native landscaping had begun to take a desolate and dry appearance. It is very easy to do in South Florida. More often than not, our irrigation systems and/or other methods of watering tend to fall short as the heat index increases during our Florida summers. Just imagine that you were a plant standing the yard all day and night… Uh-huh. Definitely more water!

Besides the arrid dryness of the existing backyard landscape, there seems to be a lack of character and color leftover from the prior homeowner’s. The native surroundings of Florida obviously already make up a tropical landscape, but some fresh new exotic tropical plantings could compliment all the assets that the property already possesses. The pool area could also benefit from a border planting to give the sole ambience of a tropical landscape meets secluded tropical waterway. So many options! The possibilities are endless. Now it is our landscape designer’s job to sift through the possibilities and pull together a custom landscape design that integrates a functional outdoor living space with a lush tropical landscape and stunning pool planting.

Our landscape designer utilized the best of both world’s for this beachside landscape design. The native landscaping played a role in the backdrop of the design, a canvas, if you will. The wildlife that exists and inhabits the area needed to continue to have a safe place to call home, so one of the main focus’ in this backyard landscape project, was to have the new planting beds really brighten up the shades of green that can seem monotonous at times. Green is the most important color in the world, but everyone thrives on vibrant yellows and deep maroon reds and such. Our landscape designer wanted to mark out beds with some added curvature to accomplish depth and details of texture. It was determined that there needed to be more than just one planting bed added. Also, since the pool screening met the backyard landscape at such an abrupt halt, it was also determined that a landscape design idea needed to be brought to the table that could soften the area more, while tying it in to the backyard landscape at the same time.

The landscape designer chose a Catteria palms, Bottle palms, Bromeliads, and Liriopes, among other plant species, to adorn the new and inviting planting beds. The plant material gave the existing native plantings a new purpose that really opened up the space for a more functional purpose. It creates a very decorative space for gatherings and celebrations. The perfect setting for a sunset dinner party or tropical luau.

Finishing touches of new sod and a low maintenance white river rock border around the pool screen, gave this backyard landscape a point of completion. The elongated planting bed with the Bottle palm features was perfectly accompanied by the smaller, more personal planting bed that featured a Bromeliad accent and stone bench seating area. The once desolate area has been transformed to an upbeat, yet relaxing tropical haven. Our clients now have a tropical backyard landscape to welcome them home! This is absolute success in the eyes’ of Construction Landscape of Vero Beach and Melbourne, FL.
